Good day and welcome to our corner of the internet!
Let me introduce myself and tell you more about us here at Our Manufactured Life than you ever wanted to know. I am Tracy I have been married for six years to my hubby, I’m entering into my late 20’s this year, I am a mom and a step-mom. During the day I work full time as an Account Manager for a software company, it’s a tough but rewarding job for me and it definitely helps pay the bills. I’m a creative soul that loves starting a good project. I spent half my childhood in Ontario, Canada, where I was born, and the other half in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. People often ask me if I will ever go back, and the truth is I’d love to, but I think the PNW has my heart for good now, I really can’t imagine living anywhere else. Except a beach in the Bahamas, I can definitely imagine that.
I have a love affair with yarn and paper, I can never have enough. I seem to collect journals and every single one of them is special to me. I’ll take handmade things over store bought any day of the week. I love starting a good project, my weakness is finishing them. My daughter thinks it is pretty cool I ride a motorcycle, a 1986 Honda Rebel 450 that I went to college to learn how to maintain and repair. That motorcycle is my first baby (shhhhh don’t tell my daughter). I started knitting about four years ago and I have been addicted ever since. If I could I would have an entire menagerie in my home, but let’s face it, we all know who would be doing all the cleanup. This year I’ve been motivated to improve my health and fitness and by doing so, encourage the rest of the family to as well.
My Mom role is daily, my Step-Mom role happens much less frequently. Way to infrequently I’m sad to say. My step-son, Monkey, lives across the state and the logistics of time off, the back and forth, working around school, it’s become difficult in the last few years. I am happy to say though that even from afar our almost five year old daughter, we like to call her Abbers, adores her cool big brother and thinks that he could never, ever do any wrong. I mean this is the big brother that introduced her to fart jokes and being even more of a daredevil than she already was, how could he do wrong!?
Hubby has a tech job and sometimes gets stuck working some strange hours for months at a time. There have definitely been many periods in our lives where we have felt like two ships passing in the night. At heart, he is an artist, another creative soul. (You see why things are either golden or crazy in our house right?) He has a good heart and is actually the real softy when it comes to the kids.
The latest and greatest news, one of the big motivators for my decision to get this family organized and making positive changes is…..
We bought a house!
What a scary grown-up thing that totally rocks! We closed early June of this year on the perfect first home for us. It needs some love and care to bring it out of the 80’s but it is all ours. Keep an eye out as we chronicle our new homeowner adventures and misadventures with remodeling, repairs and maybe even design ideas. I hope we will grow as a family and really come into our own with a fresh start in our own house.
